Cimas MEDLABS has acquired a start of the art gene sequencer set to be unveiled soon with the aim of enhancing its research capacity .
This was revealed by CIMAS Group Medical Advisor and Head of Diagnostics Dr Tsitsi Moyo during a media tour of Cimas MEDLABS as part of the Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (Lab Week) commemorations 2024.
Dr Moyo said the gene sequence ,equipped with the latest advancements in sequencing technology ,offers unparalled speed,accuracy,and efficiency in decoding genetic information.
"As we commemorate the 2024 Lab Week , we are happy to be celebrating our milestone of acquiring a state of the art gene sequencer that is set to be unveiled soon"said Dr Moyo.
She added that with this gene sequencing addition ,research will be a major thrust of Cimas MEDLABS for the future and ensuring that the African genome is included in all aspects of health care ,from diagnostics to pharmaceuticals and every aspect of science.

Dr Moyo also highlighted that their laboratory professionals,scientists,pathologists and all support services put in the hard work and dedication with commitment to accuracy and quick turnaround times to assist clinicians in providing accurate and timely care.

Meanwhile Dr Moyo pointed out that as a designated health institution approved by the Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientists Association of Zimbabwe they also offer industrial attachments and internships to newly qualified scientists.

Cimas MEDLABS provides several pathology tests including hematology ,biochemistry,histology ,microbiology,viral load and bone marrow aspirate to Cimas members and non-member patients referred by primary healthcare clinics and private doctors.
This year's Lab week is being held under the theme "The Lab is Everything"
