Japan committed to strengthening health delivery in disaster prone communities of Zimbabwe

By Hamu Madzedze

The Government of Japan says it will continue assisting in strengthening Zimbabwe's health delivery in disaster prone communities of the country.

Speaking during the handover of an ambulance which is part of the three ambulances that were procured along with the GeneExpert PCR machine under the Japan funded project to equip medical facilities in Manicaland Province with emergency services, Japanese Ambassador to Zimbabwe His Excellency Mr Shinichi Yamanaka said this project will contribute immensely towards the Ministry of Health and Child Care efforts to improve emergency medical services in the Province.

Meanwhile the United Nations Office for Project Services Zimbabwe (UNOPS) Officer in Charge Mr Clement Mhlanga said procurement is more than supplying goods and services but it is about ensuring partners have resources which they need in order to achieve their developmental goals.

"As the country fights the cholera outbreak ,l trust this donation funded by the government of Japan will strengthen the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Child Care towards equitable , appropriate, accessible, affordable, and acceptable quality health services for all" said Mr Mhlanga.
